ABOUT MAKESHIFT

We believe creativity exists in everyone. We also believe that sometimes we need to make time and space to free it, feed it, and celebrate it. Makeshift exists to gather and inspire women through creative workshops and hosted events.  We provide craft instruction and the chance to learn new skills in a social and fun environment.

We also offer private workshops for parties, showers and corporate events. Please contact us for inquiries.  Workshops are hosted and taught by Jill Ellis in Santa Barbara, California.

We hope you’ll join us at one of our upcoming workshops. Your creative spirit will thank you!

Makeshift Studio provides modern, hands-on, creative workshops for groups of women that feel more like a special event than an art class.  Think cocktail party meets Pinterest-worthy craft circle. You'll leave feeling nourished and inspired.

ABOUT JILL

Jill is a designer, artist, and multi-crafter with a passion for entertaining and bringing people together. She grew up in Santa Barbara, received a BFA in Graphic Design and spent over a decade working as a Creative Director in Chicago. After her second child was born, she said goodbye to “Corporate America” to make messes at home with her family.  Jill has three very adventurous and curious boys, and a patient and supportive husband.  In 2011, Jill got had the opportunity to provide bi-monthly craft workshops to a group of 70 women.  This ritual not only fed her creative appetite, but it naturally evolved into her hosting creative workshops and parties for groups of friends. Jill hopes to serve groups of women who long for a little time for themselves to make beautiful things and rediscover a part of who they are through art and fellowship.

Jill has a wide background in art education with experience instructing children to prison inmates.
